NYK Logistics celebrates 20th anniversary
On September 25th NYK Logistics celebrates its 20th anniversary in Belgium.
In 1896, the first ship of the Japanese shipping company NYK, set sail from Japan to the European continent, with Antwerp as first port of call. Ever since, NYK has acknowledged the importance of Belgium, resulting in the establishment of a 100% owned logistics subsidiary in 1989. Today, 20 years later, NYK Logistics (Belgium) celebrates this special occasion with an exhibition celebrating its history.
Over the years, NYK Logistics (Belgium) has grown to become one of the major players in the Belgian and international logistics market, with an extensive customer portfolio in various sectors. Continuously we strive to provide our customers with state of the art solutions.
To celebrate this special anniversary, NYK Logistics plunges into its history and will open a temporary museum at the Transport & Logistics fair held in Antwerp on the 20th - 22nd October. There, we will welcome customers and partners to celebrate this memorable event together with our staff.

NYK Logistics North Continent expands its
healthcare capacity
Facing an increasing demand for healthcare services, NYK Logistics North Continent has expanded its GDP (Good Distribution Practices) licensed area within its Antwerp warehouse by an extra 4.500 m².
In recent months, several renowned healthcare sector companies have outsourced their logistics activities to NYK Logistics, resulting in an expansion of the existing 4.000 m² GDP licensed zone with an additional 4.500 m². The licensed area offers full humidity monitoring and control, together with different temperature ranges both for cooled and ambient storage (ranging from 2°C to 25°C).
“Since NYK Logistics North Continent entered the healthcare logistics market, we have seen increasing demand for centralised warehousing of goods imported or exported into the European Union”; says Hans van der Eijk, General Manager Commercial. “NYK contributes to this trend by offering GDP licensed warehouse space and temperature controlled supply chains from factories located outside the EU to any destination in Europe. Our Antwerp facility has proven to be ideally located as a gateway to Europe. The services are performed under stringent GDP legislation and under ISO 14001 certification together with NYK Logistics’ Quality Management System”.
“In the current challenging economic climate, the 124 year old NYK group offers customers required stability for their supply chain. Further physical and system development is planned ensuring additional and state of the art services are offered to customers”.
Currently, the NYK Logistics North Continent Healthcare division supports customers in Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals and Over-The-Counter products.
